Freehand

Freehand

A similar aesthetic can be found in different forms with sad or dark rap artists like bones, young lean, $uicideboy$, lil peep, night Lovell and many others.

On the other hand tattoos like these are popular in the modern techno scene especially with the whole y2k thing going on, so this has been the most recent inspiration to get one like this.

When people see the tattoos they often say it looks like lightening, poisoned veins or shattered glass which I think is pretty fitting due to all the things I associate it with.

To me it relates to so many abstract things, which are very interconnected. It ties into childhood fascination, different parts of pop cultures from the 90s till now and identity, so getting the tattoo I feel more connected with some of the things that fascinated and shaped me and my identity growing up - having this tattoo they are always around me which I think is really cool!

What fascinated you when you were growing up? And do you have a tattoo which reminds you of them?

Tattoo - Freehand

This one is such a beauty and hard to put into words, so Hannes did instead.

Since the tattoo was created freehand on the spot by the artist, I can’t say there was a specific meaning behind it for me. I gave a brief description of things I’d seen on the artists instagram page, similar abstract tattoos or something often referred to by artists as, modern interpretations of tribal tattoos.

The style of tattoo and the one I got resemble a lot of different aesthetics which are always connected with certain cultures, music and people that fascinated me growing up in 2000s and 2010s. To me, it has this dark mythical goth vibe like witches, spiders, haunted houses - something that intrigued me as a kid.
